Water Utility

Millville Water Utilities tank

Millville Water Utilities drinking water meets and surpasses all federal and state drinking water standards. The utility supplies excellent potable water to the residents of the City of Millville at a reasonable rate, which hasn't changed since 1992. Through the diligence and hard work of the utility's 15 employees, we provide an average of 4.4 million gallons of water a day. Our service is provided without interruption seven days a week year-round. The Water Utility is supplied by groundwater pumped from ten wells in the Cohansey / Kirkwood aquifer. Their depths range from 120 to 320 feet. The water quality is very good, and therefore the treatment process at the utility creates exceptional drinking water.

Distribution System

The distribution system totals more than 100 miles of water mains with more than 800 fire hydrants. Some of Millville's original distribution system that was installed in 1880 still provides some service. Millville's utility personnel repair all leaks, install replacement services, and install and repair water meters, as well as controlling all aspects of water treatment. Our distribution crew also has the ability to make taps up to 12 inches. An adequate stock of materials is always available for emergencies.

Lead Program

The City of Millville is committed to providing clean, safe, and reliable drinking water to all their residents. To support this mission, the City has developed the information about their customers service lines, which consists of a series of actions that we are undertaking to reduce or eliminate lead in drinking water at the customer's tap. This program aims to educate the public on how to reduce their exposure to lead in drinking water.
